Nine schools brought shows to region 8 AAAAA competition this year - all
were solid shows but Brookwood won 1st Place and is headed for State 1-Act
Competition next weekend.
Youtube of winning moments
South Gwinnett took second place with a very funny and well acted (two of
the shows leads won awards for best actor and actress) comedy called "For
Whom the Southern Bell Tolls" and Archer High placed third with a
wonderfully inventive and smart show called "Now Then and Again" (the show
won best set).
Brookwood performed Steven Sondheim's musical "Into the woods" which in
addition winning first place, won Best Costumes and Best Crew. Cameron Clay,
who played Jack and Rachael Wagner, who played Little Red, won All-Star Cast
honors.
It must have been hard for the judges to choose a best show because Parkview
came to competition with a very good musical performance of "Lucky Stiff",
Grayson was a standout with "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs" as was
Berkmar High with "Candid".
State 1-Act Competition will be held in Perry, Georgia, at Perry High School
on Saturday, Nov 5th - the first show starts at 9am - and Brookwood will
take the stage at 5pm. The competition is free and all parents, friends and
theater lovers are invited to attend.
This is the second year in a row Brookwood has moved on to state competition.
