A knight for Fine Arts Department
Fine Arts Departments dinner at 'Medieval Times' was a night of fun

On September 7, 2006, Brookwood's Performing and Fine Arts Departments celebrated a Knight to remember by enjoying dinner and theatre at Discover Mills' 'Medieval Times'.

Among the performers of 'Medieval Times' there are several theatre and chorus alumni:
Gretchen Gordon (Class of 2006) performed the Princess and
Tyler Mathis (Class of 2005) ran one of the spots (he still got to walk around in a cool costume). • Leyla Thompson, a former chorus and band student is one of 'Medieval Times' Managers.

Almost 200 students and teachers from the Art, Band, Chorus, Dance, Drama, Orchestra and Technical Productions met up and were assigned a section of the arena which corresponded to a particular Knight designated as their champion.

The 2+ hour dinners and entertainment are journey back to the
11th Century through a live presentation of theatrical dialog
between King Alfonso, Princess Esperanza, a Master of Arms, a
Lord Chancellor and a shadowy Mystic.

There was also a Tournament of Skill with riders on horseback, special effects, jousting, and sword play. All the while, those in the arena wore crowns, waved flags, cheered their Knights, jeered other Knights, yelled, screamed and called for the ultimate end to the other section's champion. The teachers could also be seen doing the 'Wave' at one point, but no video record is available.
